Lily-16+h 2002 Hanoverian-TB Mare

Lily is a fun, forward mare with a cuddly and loving personality!  She has a beautiful face, clean legs and great conformation.  In the short time she has been with us, Lily has made progress in basic dressage, exhibited a talent for jumping, and gained a love of trail riding.  We have only brushed the surface of Lily’s abilities and potential!

Lily is a granddaughter of the great French distance stallion, Val de l’Orne.  I was told by a pedigree expert that Val de l’Orne’s is “one of the best TB jumping lines in existence, and has been for at least 4 generations of sires.”

Lily was a beloved pleasure horse in her “past life.”  She is free from blemishes or unsoundness.  She stands quietly for the vet and farrier, for clippers, for baths, or just to be loved on in the aisle or stall.  Lily loads and unloads willingly from both a straight and slant-load trailer.  Currently asking $7500, price negotiable to a terrific home.

*Newsflash!!! March 17, 2012* Lily participated in her first foxhunt and was a superstar! She galloped like a dream on the runs, stood on a loose rein at the checks, and kept her wits when hounds and huntsmen ran past.  This mare is so much fun!

*Newsflash!!! May 27, 2012* Lily competed in her first show and captured Grand Champion in a large division!

*Newsflash!!! Nov 4, 2012* Lily stood quietly during the blessing of the hounds at the Opening Meet, then hunted like a champ.  Each time out she gets better and better!

Video on the flat and over fences, Mother’s Day 2012:

This video clip shows Lily’s first free jumping school, and first time tackling an in-and-out.  I loved watching her figure things out, experiment with the striding, and learn to use her body in new, more powerful ways.  The geldings watching from the pasture were certainly impressed 😉  She cleared each fence eagerly and effortlessly, promising a great future over fences.

Imperial Vision – 2003 TB Gelding

Vision is a lovely, 2003, 16 hand bay TB gelding. He was too slow for the track and was retired in 2007.  He had several years of let-down time as a pasture pet before he came here to find his next career.

Viz is a beautiful mover with a good brain and a kind heart.  He is willing and obedient, but us not above getting a little frisky with too much vacation time! He has been started over fences and with lateral work.  He is currently not in regular work (through owner’s limitations-no fault of his own),thus currently asking $1250.00.

Viz’s paparazzi needs to get on the ball and take some current video!!! Until then, here is Viz’s  introduction to related fences:

This is Viz’s first introduction to jumping, taken a few days after he arrived.  We were thrilled with his rolling canter and easy rhythm, which has only improved with schooling!

Our working student fell in love with Viz on sight.  This is maybe his third ride since coming out of retirement:

Denya’s Wish – 2003 Reg. TB Mare For Sale

Wish has been off the track for several years, living a life of leisure in our pasture! She does her natural horsemanship groundwork like a champ, and is very light and sensitive to ride. I had initially purchased Wish as a show hunter prospect for her classically correct conformation. She is a very fancy mover!   Wish’s bloodlines, which include greats such as Fappiano and Best Turn, suggest future success in any discipline, or as a fantastic sport horse broodmare.

Wish has no known soundness issues.  She does have an old scar on her hind leg that our vet says should not interfere with future strenuous riding and jumping.

Wish is our “Daddy’s Girl.” My husband is totally in love with her! However, at 6′ tall, he is too big for her. Any home is subject to his approval!  She is not currently in regular work (through owner’s limitations, no fault of her own.) We are currently asking $950.00 to a great home.

**Newsflash**

The stars finally aligned and we got a little impromptu video of Wish!  I joke because this fall it has seemed almost impossible to schedule a video shoot.  Wish is not in anything resembling work- I basically pulled her in from the pasture. I was so proud of how calm and obedient she was.  When you add impulsion her movement really shines, but this day I was going relaxation rather than brilliance.  Mark was still setting up the camera when I got on, so I hopped off at the end and remounted to show how she stands quietly on a loose rein for mounting.  (Note- since I broke my back I wear the back protector every ride- it’s no reflection on my expectations for Wish!)

Gideon: Fancy Pony Hunter Prospect

Gideon is smart, sensitive, and super fancy! At just under 14.2 with a warmblood look, Gideon turns heads in the pony hunters. Gideon is taking the “natural” road to the show ring and the results are impressive:  Gideon captures Champion or  Reserve Champion every time out.  Outside the ring, he enjoys trail rides and has ridden to hounds with a junior rider.

Jonesway Metallica

Alli is a 1999 registered Clydesdale mare standing 17.1 hands high. In her past life, she’s been a driving horse, a lesson horse, and a very successful broodmare.  Since her arrival at the farm, she has been an integral part of our family!

Alli’s roles have varied through the years.  She has taught lessons to a variety of students ranging from raw beginner on up.  During the  “Snowmageddon” which crippled the Mid-Atlantic, she proved to be the original SUV-Scottish Utility Vehicle, that is!  She broke trails through 3’+ deep snow, carried me along fencelines to repair or free fence from drifts, and pulled sleds of grain (and people!) to distant pastures.

When my husband’s beloved Belgian was injured just before a Medieval Reenactment, Alli stepped in seamlessly as his number one Charger.  He wrote about the experience of their first introduction here , and of flash-training her to the games under pressure here and here .  Alli not only carried Mark to tournament glory-bitless!- but patiently carried several other “horseless” equestrians.

Later that same season, Alli carried Mark on his first taste of riding to foxhounds with the calm steadiness she has become known for.

Angus MacCloud – 2005 Thoroughbred Shire Sport Horse

Congratulations! We know Angus will be a well-loved addition to a wonderful family!

Thoroughbred Shire Sport Horse Gelding for sale

tb shire horse for sale hunt event show

We are absolutely crazy about Angus, our 6 year old, 16.1 hand Shire-TB! With his great mind, cloud-like gaits, and storybook look., what’s not to love!

Friends leased our TB Deva’s Delight, now known as Angel’s Gift. They bred her to the breathtaking registered Shire, Knutsford Edward. Thus came Angus into this world. When they found they couldn’t keep horses any longer, we joyfully welcomed him home!

Angus has the sweet personality and trainability of his mama, and his daddy’s power and charisma. His groundwork and long-lining are solid.   He has been lightly started under saddle.  Even before he was officially “started,”  Angus came along for many of our off-the-farm adventures where he has learned to trailer quietly, to wait calmly, and to focus on his person though the chaos of the show grounds. This gorgeous youngster is becoming quite the worldly gentleman… and he never fails to attract an admiring crowd!

Everyone Loves Angus…even Argent the barncat!

Even as a youngster, Angus was irresistable!  In this photo I’d brought him in for a trim… and couldn’t resist hopping up on him for a bareback ride around the paddock.

Enjoy this clip of Angus’ sire, Knutsford Edward:

FireStorm – 2003 RPSI cross mare

Updated 9/29/2012: Congratulations Tim on your awesome new horse; and congratulations Stormy on your incredible new life 🙂 We hope to be hearing lots of great stories about both of you in the coming years!

——

Stormy: 15.1 RPSI cross filly mare,  born 2003. Chestnut with lots of chrome. Her personality is as flamboyant as her presence! Her grandsire is Starman, Anne Kursinski’s fabulous Olympic showjumper.

Stormy Trotting

Stormy has a strong foundation, including natural horsemanship groundwork, longeing, and ground driving.  She was started under saddle as a 4 year old, but we would definitely recommend a refresher as she has not been in work. She loads, bathes, etc. Stormy’s story reads like a fairytale. She is looking for the right person to live out her happily-ever-after!

Partway there… And a bit closer

Update 5/15a: Content mashing looks good, but there’s some circular links. Sorry about that, will fix in the next few days!!

Update: 5/15 I have uploaded the content from joustingwarhorse.com as a test and will be further integrating our other equine-related sites into this one, assuming it all works out.

For those who have seen on facebook, we’ve had some hardware challenges on our website server, and yours truly is in the process of rebuilding it more or less from content backups. Many of the tabs don’t work yet because I don’t have their configurations uploaded yet… but I’m getting there :=)

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Mark
